Brainstem Epilepsy

Episodes of aberrant, widespread and repetitive activation of brainstem neurones in "Brainstem Epilepsy" are other forms of ASBA. This is sometimes associated with vocalisation or frank screaming. There is usually no apparent cause of brainstem epilepsy in Rett syndrome and blood levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide are often normal during this type of brainstem activation.
